There are three primary ways you can be involved in God’s work through missions at Pinelake: praying, giving and going.

Prayer is a foundational need for effective missions. The Missions Ministry has people from within the church that offer prayer support for community, global and mobilization efforts. Prayer partners receive periodic prayer need updates via email and lift up team members and trips in prayer.

  • Community Missions Prayer Advocate – Prays for needs involving the ministries where Pinelake serves locally in the Jackson area and in the US
  • Global Missions Prayer Advocate – Prays for needs of our international missionaries and international mission locations
  • Missions Mobilization Prayer Advocate (The M938 Initiative) – A prayer initiative based upon Matthew 9:38 which directs us to pray earnestly, asking God to call workers into the harvest.

Through giving financial resources, you become a sender of missionaries. Some mission trips can be expensive and through faith people rely on the generosity of others to make their participation in a trip a reality. There are two ways to be a sender:
  • Many of the people who participate on a mission raise their own funding. If you receive a request for financial support from a short-term missionary, prayerfully consider sending the person by contributing to their mission trip. Small groups can greatly contribute to the sending of a mission participant with financial support and through care of the participant’s family and home while they are gone.
  • Pinelake has a Missions Fund, which provides mission trip scholarships to qualified applicants. In 2007 the church provided assistance to more than 30 international mission team members. Additionally, the Missions Fund provides ministries which Pinelake supports.

God calls us all to be active participants in His mission to reach and redeem the world. Often one of the most life-changing things you can do is to go on a mission trip. If you would like to take part in ministering in this way, begin making plans by:
  • Praying about where God is calling you to serve
  • Decide if you would like to serve on a missions team as an individual, as a family or as a small group
  • Reserve the time and make plans accordingly

Pinelake has relationships with several local ministries throughout Jackson. Teams from Pinelake will be serving along side these ministries working to meet the physical needs of people. These ministries, like Pinelake, believe the hope for Jackson is the same as it is for the rest of the world … Jesus Christ. By showing that we care and are concerned about their physical well being, we have a platform from which we can share the love of Jesus both in word and deed.

Pinelake is working with two local ministries in 2008 whose primary focus is the revitalization of neighborhoods in forgotten areas of Jackson. These ministries are Mission First and the Perkins Center. Both ministries offer clean, safe accommodations for groups to stay and work. We will be spending several weekends at these ministries to assist them in reaching downtown Jackson for Christ.
